//DAYDREAMS

In Jim Muntisov’s debut feature film, an introverted teenager (newcomer Hana Singtong Wells) reconnects with her partygoing older brother (Darcy Kent) in the midst of her last weeks of high school. As adulthood fast approaches, she struggles to navigate her friendships, relationships and studies; watching on as her brother lives a seemingly carefree life that she wishes she could have.

Utilising mostly non-actors, real teenagers and improvised dialogue, Daydreams captures an authentic view into the lives of suburban youth in Melbourne. Subverting the typical stereotypes of the high school film, Daydreams focuses on the smaller moments that aren’t often shown on screen, exploring the realities of teenage life verses the expectations that popular culture creates.
